Deep AR enables you to view your GIS data in 3D- in real space- using just your phone.  The AR in Deep AR stands for 'augmented reality'.

Think of Deep AR as a professional tool that extends any GIS professional's toolkit into the field, into real space 3D.

Augmented reality describes a system where real space surrounding you is enhanced with supplementary information about your environment.  Augmented reality means viewing a model of a mine, building, or drill results in their real position relative to yours.

Virtual reality describes a space that does not surround you or is not in sync with your surroundings.  Virtual reality means viewing a model of a mine, or building, or drill results as if you were standing somewhere else.

Simply, Deep AR differentiates between augmented and virtual realities by highlighting or 'graying-out' the 'center-on-me' button. 

When toggled on or in augmented reality- when the model is centered on you, the viewer- the button will be highlighted.   When selecting a model or rotating your viewscape or zooming to data that is not in your surroundings, Deep AR is no longer centered on you and the button will be grayed-out. 

The elevation models used are 1/3 arc-second DEM derived from the USGS within the United States, and 1 arc second worldwide.  
Our digtial elevation accuracy is approximately +/- 1 meter and we have one or more points spaced nearly every 10 meters.

Deep AR relies on your phone's ability to position itself, which requires a clear GPS signal obtained communicating with GPS satellites or surrounding cellular towers.
When the GPS signal is obscured by obstacles, buildings, distance, weather etc., the accuracy of the phone's determined location may vary or be indeterminable and will affect the ability of the Deep AR app to properly locate the user.

You do not need to be on wi-fi or have cellular signal to use Deep AR or view your data offline, however, you must have started the app, signed in, and viewed the data first to cache for offline use.
All elevation, roads, rivers, and points of interest data that you view within the app requiring an internet connection to view the first time.

  • Deep AR works best on iPhones 7 and newer.
  • Deep AR works best on phones supporting Android version 8 or newer.
  • Deep AR works best on recent iPads and Tablets supporting the above iOS and Android versions.
  • For accurate GPS positioning, Phones must have embedded GPS chips or have location provided by nearby cellular towers.
  • Successful implementation on other phones may vary.

The app is available within both the Android and iOS app stores.

Currently, the iOS version offers only a free membership, which includes the ability to upload, view and stylize your GIS data for free.  This upload / view functionality may only be available in the future with a Premium level subscription.

The Android version offers a Premium membership for $49.99/year, which includes the ability to upload, view and stylize your GIS data.
